Fresh efforts are to be made to identify families at risk of losing their homes in Dublin.
The number of homeless families has been rising in the region and last week 184 adults with children were staying in hotels or hostels in the city.
However local authorities can do little to help people before they find themselves in that situation.
A spokesperson for the Department of Social Protection has told the Irish Times that an initiative to help those at risk avoid losing the roof over their head will be rolled out in the next 'six to eight weeks'.
