It has been seven years since Graham Dwyer was found guilty of murdering Elaine O’Hara.
Her remains were found in the Dublin mountains in September 2013.
That was a year after it’s believed the childcare worker was killed.
In 2018, Dwyer’s lawyers successfully challenged a law that allowed for the indiscriminate retention of mobile phone call records and location data.
Given the potential consequences for the investigation of serious crime, the State appealed that decision to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court sought clarity from Europe.
Europe ruled in Dwyer's favour and the State abandoned its Supreme Court appeal, which paved the way for him to try and have his conviction overturned before the Court of Appeal.
December 1st was set down today for the first of what will be a two-day hearing.
