Early indications suggest visitor numbers in Dublin city centre for this year's St Patrick's festival will rival 2019 figures, according to a business group.
DublinTown says they're gearing up for a busy few days with footfall, visitor numbers and spending expected to come close to pre-pandemic levels.
Chief Executive Richard Guiney says many hotels are fully booked and Dublin Airport is expecting 77,000 passengers a day this week;
"Our footfall has been kind of edging up so we've been hovering between 80 and 85 per cent of 2019 levels but I think given the weekend that's in it and if the weather is good I think we'll see Irish people back."
Before Covid hit Dublin's St Patrick's day parade usually saw half a million people take to the streets.
Richard Guiney went on to say; "DublinTown has been working very closely with businesses in the city, An Garda Síochána and Dublin City Council to ensure the week goes smoothly, particularly in terms of safety, security and street cleaning."
