Dublin's hoping to re-take the title of European Capital of Culture.
Councillors will meet with city chiefs this week to discuss the bid.
Last week the European Parliament chose Ireland and Croatia as countries that could designate a city to take the title in 2020.
Now the head of Dublin City Council's arts and culture committee is meeting with the City Manager about a bid.
There's competition though with Galway first out of the traps in rallying support, even before the confirmation came from Europe.
A panel of cultural experts is to be set up to consider the bids and a decision on which city will get the honour isn't due until 2016
The last time Dublin was Europe's Capital of Culture was back in 1991.
