Dublin Port is refusing to give up its car compound.
It can hold around 2,500 imported cars as they await distribution to salesroom around the country.
But the Environment Minister and the Land Development Agency want the site to be used for people and not cars.
Eamon Ryan believes the area should be used for housing and the cars can go elsewhere according to the Irish Independent.
But Dublin Port has rejected the idea saying the compound is a critical facility and it has nowhere else to house newly-imported cars.
