Emma Blain was last night elected the 357th Lord Mayor of Dublin.

The Fine Gael Councillor was selected to succeed former Councillor James Geoghegan at a special meeting of Dublin City Council last night after he was elected to the Dáil last month.

The Rathmines native represents the Pembroke local electoral area and has been an elected representative since 2016, and served as a councillor on Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council until being elected to Dublin City Council in June 2024.

She's promised to prioritise care for the elderly and the promotion of sport in the community, particularly for women and girls.

The Lord Mayor has the option to live in the Mansion House during her term, that runs until June.
