The 352nd Lord Mayor of Dublin will be elected later today.
Dublin city council will hold it's annual meeting this evening to decide who will become the first citizen of the city and his or her deputy.
The Green Party's Hazel Chu is expected to take up the position as part of a voting agreement between a number of parties.
If successful she will become just the 9th woman to hold the position.
8 woman out of 352 Lord Mayors is truly a shocking figure.
With the support of my fellow Dublin City Councillors I hope to change that tomorrow. And whether successful or not I will continue to shout about how we need more women in politics from every background going forward. https://t.co/KigNcnLlQR

The current Lord Mayor of Dublin is Fianna Fáil councillor Tom Brabazon. He took over the position in February from his party colleague Paul McAuliffe who was elected a TD.
