Dublin City Council has backed a motion supporting the continued provision of a combined fire, rescue and ambulance service by Dublin Fire Brigade.
The HSE plans to remove the delivery of Dublin's ambulance service from DFB, by 2015.
Two seperate reviews are to be carried out before a final decision is made.
The first is a national review to be conducted independently by the Health Service Executive - while the second is a joint local review by Dublin City Council and the HSE.
SIPTU says the latter has been temporarily postponed pending the outcome of the first.
Yesterday 200 fire fighters and supporters staged a demonstration in the capital, opposing the HSE's plans.
It could be September before the outcome of the two reviews is known.
