First time buyers in Dublin commuter belt counties will have less than 50 affordable homes delivered each year.

Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Westmeath and Laois are all included, according to Local Authority delivery targets.

Meath and Wicklow will each see just 30 homes built, while Kildare and Louth will each have 45 homes.

Westmeath will have 15, while the lowest number will be delivered in Laois, where just eight are planned each year.

Elsewhere Cork will receive 113 affordable houses, Limerick 53, Galway 75, and Waterford 15.

The homes form part of the government's Housing For All Plan up to 2026.

It aims for the State to take a stake of up to a third in the home to help cover the cost, and in return it would take a stake in the property.

Roughly 1,600 are planned annually across the country, with more than 1,000 to be built in the capital.
