A report has found parts of southwest Dublin are disproportionately affected by violence against women.
It's warned that young women in Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard are being groomed into abusive relationships with the promise of drugs.
This report comes on the back of a HSE assessment that found domestic violence was a key factor in an increase in suicides among young women in the Dublin 10 area in 2018 and 2019.
The research found up to 70 per cent of criminal damage and public order incidents in Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard are related to domestic violence and that numerous individuals live with an ongoing risk of lethal violence from partners who have access to firearms.
According to the Irish Times, victims reported suffering brain injuries and enduring attacks so severe they led to epilepsy.
While the report, that is being published by Saoirse domestic violence support service, found the intergenerational cycles of violence is having a detrimental impact on children.
