A number of searches have been carried out as part of a crackdown on drugs and contraband being smuggled into Dublin prisons.
The ongoing investigation is focused on Wheatfield, Cloverhill and Mountjoy jails and resulted in raids on properties in Clondalkin, Ballyfermot, Coolock and Tallaght yesterday.
Gardaí also carried out searches of a number of cells in Mountjoy.
The searches were conducted by Gardaí attached to DMR South Serious Crime Unit with assistance from the Dublin Crime Response Team and the Irish Prison Service.
The operation uncovered a number of miniature phones wrapped in insulation tape ready to be sent by drone to the prisons. Controlled drugs, including €17,000 worth of cannabis, €5,000 in cocaine and €3,000 worth of tablets, were also seized.
Gardaí also found €22,000 in cash, a drone, a Rolex watch, mobile phones and financial documents. Improvised weapons and drug paraphernalia were also seized during the raids.
