Recent studies have shed light on drivers using their phone while behind the wheel.
9 percent of drivers admit to regularly checking apps on their phone while driving.
That's according a recent study, with Gardaí appealing to motorists to not do it.
Accoring to Gardaí, people are four times more likely to crash if they use a hand held phone while driving.
Inspector Ian O’Callaghan from Bandon Garda Station has reminded people that looking at your phone while stopped in traffic is an offense.
He says it carries three penalty points if you're found using a phone, whether stopped or in motion.
