Donald Trump To Return To The White House

Donald Trump is set for a return to the White House, after winning the US Presidential election.

The Republican candidate declared victory earlier, and the numbers now sit in a way which would make impossible for Democrat rival Kamala Harris to overtake him.

Though she didn't concede defeat - her team had told a rally of supporters in Washington to go home once results from some of the key battleground states came in.

Donald Trump took to the stage in Florida in the early hours to promise a 'golden age' for America.

Kamala Harris received fewer votes than Joe Biden did four years ago in virtually every part of the country.

The Taoiseach has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory, saying the 'people of the United States have spoken'.

Simon Harris says Ireland will work to strengthen the 'historic and unbreakable bonds' between the two nations.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, says the Government looks forward to working with Mr Trump's new administration in a 'constructive manner', as it did during his previous administration.

Israel's Prime Minister has described Donald Trump's victory as 'history's greatest comeback'.

Benjamin Netanyahu, says Donal Trump's return to the White House will lead to a 'powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America'.

Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, says he's looking forward to personally congratulating President Trump, and appreciates his “peace through strength” approach to global affairs.

The French President, Emmanuel Macron, says he's ready to work with Mr Trump again for 'more peace and prosperity'.
