A teenager with special needs was assaulted by officers at a Garda station.
The sensational claim has been made by a Limerick doctor today during a meeting of the Justice committee at Leinster House .
GP Richard O'Flaherty told politicians that he wants doctors to be able to blow the lid off Garda abuse - just like Garda whistleblowers.
He gave one example of what he wants to expose:
“Another special needs boy was arrested, he borrowed his father's car. He’s 17, special needs – the body of a 17 year old, the mind of 8 to 10. He was taken in, stripped of his pants and underpants, whipped with the belt and told that they’ll arrest his dad also and give him the same thing.”
