One of Dublin's most successful businessmen has died. Des Kelly known as the "Carpet Man" passed away at his home yesterday.
Mr. Kelly started selling second hand carpets in the 60s and went on to create a home furnishing company that became a household name in Ireland.
He closed his shops on Sundays because of his religious beliefs and felt it should be a family day.
Mr. Kelly died peacefully at home in Dunboyne Co. Meath yesterday. Husband of the late Youlanda, he is survived by eight children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
As a mark of respect all his stores will be closed this Monday the 25th of July.
