A government department has objected to plans for more than a thousand homes in north Dublin.
The €468 million fast-track planning application for a site on the Coast Road in Baldoyle was lodged earlier this year. 1,007 apartments are planned.
But the Irish Independent reports the Department of Education has said the development will put further pressure on projected school place needs in the area.
It highlighted two adjoining developments that have been granted permission for over 2,000 homes and says it's been trying for some time without success to identify a site for a secondary school.
The department described a school demand assessment lodged on behalf of the developers as too crude an instrument to reliably gauge school place requirements.
A decision is due in July.
