The Education Minister says the results of the Leaving Cert won’t be available until September because of demands on the system.
They're due out on Friday September 3rd, but the Labour Party says mid-August would be more practical.
This year students can opt to sit the exams, take accredited grades or a combination of both.
Norma Foley says this approach will lead to a delay in issuing the results.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party says it could be October before students see the inside of lecture halls if the date for Leaving Cert results isn't brought forward.
It says the September date is too late, and is calling on the Education Minister to consider the more traditional mid-August release instead.
The party says the decision will delay the start of the academic year and create more anxiety for students.
