It appears the coalition government could be close to reaching a deal on water charges for some welfare claimants.
It's believed Fine Gael and Labour have reached agreement in principle to eliminate a 50 euro standing charge, which was expected to apply to all households regardless of usage.
However, it's understood the standing charge will mean an increase in the per litre cost for water.
