Dublin city council is to spend over €4 billion on capital projects over the next 3 years.

Housing will account for 66 per cent or €2.8 billion of the spending from 2024 to 2026. Road transportation and safety is the next biggest spend at €691 million.

The redevelopment of Dalymount Park and the first phase of the Parnell Square Cultural Quarter are some of the flagship projects.

While work on the long delayed District Heating project in Ringsend is to start in early 2025.

Councillor Paddy McCartan says it's important the project goes ahead;

"The benefits for the inner city area are going to be exponential in terms of what, 50,000 homes, piping hot water into these homes."

€3.1 billion of the total programme expenditure is on ‘committed’ projects with €1.1 billion on proposed new projects.
