A former insurance administrator serving life for the murder of his wife in Dublin has failed to have an appeal against his conviction re-opened.
David Bourke stabbed Jean Gilbert to death in front of their 3 children at their home in Laverna Dale, Castleknock in Dublin in August 2007.
He lost an appeal against the conviction last year but his lawyers subsequently argued that the Court of Criminal Appeal should revisit arguments relating to the defence of provocation.
The Court has refused to set aside its earlier judgment or allow certain points of law go the Supreme Court.
