Over 300 people will participate in a 160 kilometre cycle this morning in aid of water, health and education projects in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.

Participants will leave Blackrock in South County Dublin at 8.45am and travel via Trim to Kinnegad and then return to Dublin.

The cycle, which is organised by the Willow Wheelers Cycling Club in Dublin, has been taking place for the past 25 years and has since raised close to €2 million in funding.

Former Ireland and Lions star, Fergus Slattery, will take part, and 1987 Tour de France winner, Stephen Roche, will greet cyclists on their return.
