Future plans for George's Dock in Dublin are back on the agenda.

City councillors will get a report on redeveloping George's Dock in the IFSC at a meeting this morning.

It comes more than 3 years after a proposal to build a controversial white water rafting facility at the site was scrapped. Plans for a water training facility and public outdoor pool followed but never progressed.

It comes as campaigners call for the swimming pool, or lido plan, to be introduced.

Located near the Custom House, the area is made up of an Outer Dock and an Inner Dock, which are connected by a small canal.

The council says a feasibility study on what to do long-term with the site, that is zoned for water use, is due to start at the end of the year. Meanwhile an up to date conservation and structural survey of the dock is also planned this year.

A temporary events platform is one of the meanwhile uses being considered for the space that dates back to the 19th century.
