There have been no further coronavirus deaths recorded in the Republic.

Six new cases have been confirmed, bringing the total number of cases since the outbreak began to 25,766.

The death toll stands at 1,753 since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile, 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases were being treated in Irish hospitals as of 8am this morning.

Nine coronavirus patients are being treated in intensive care units around the country.

It had initially been planned that today would mark the beginning of phase four of the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

However, that has been delayed until at least August 10th due to a recent increase in the number of new cases being reported.
