Coronavirus: 253 New Cases And Three Further Deaths In Republic

There have been 253 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the Republic today.

Three further COVID-19 related deaths have also been reported.

It brings the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 32,271, and the number of deaths to 1,792.

Of today's new cases, 61 were identified as community transmission.

116 of the cases were in Dublin, 22 in Kildare, 14 in Cork, 14 in Galway, 13 in Donegal, 10 in Limerick, 10 in Louth, nine in Mayo, eight in Waterford, seven in Wicklow and the remaining 30 cases are located in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Tipperary, Westmeath.

Today's figures have been released ahead of the announcement of new coronavirus restrictions for Dublin.

Cabinet has signed off on NPHET's recommendations, which include moving the capital to level three of restrictions and banning indoor dining in restaurants and pubs for the next few weeks.
