There have been 10 more coronavirus-related deaths in the Republic.

64 new cases of the virus have also been confirmed - the second day in a row that the number of new cases has been below 100.

Today's figures brings the total number of cases here to 24,112 since the outbreak began, while the number of deaths now stands at 1,543.

Figures released earlier today by the HSE showed that 54 COVID-19 patients were in the country’s intensive care units, as well as 15 other suspected cases.

The total is down more than 100 compared to the peak number of ICU patients in early April.

Meanwhile, a total of 394 confirmed COVID-19 patients are currently being treated in the country’s acute hospitals.

Data covering all the cases up until midnight on Friday shows that 3,117 people have been hospitalised since the outbreak began, with 389 of those patients admitted to ICUs.
