There are claims people feel unsafe on the Luas.
It follows reports a group of teenagers set a woman's hair on fire on the red line earlier this month. During a separate incident, a teenager was arrested for damaging the inside of a tram.
The Herald reports that on Saturday January 11th a woman's hair was set on fire by a group of teenagers as a tram traveled from the city centre to Tallaght. According to the paper, the driver complained to Transdev after security staff failed to show up.
In a separate incident seven days later, Gardaí responded to a public order incident at the Drimnagh Luas stop.
Accoring to the paper, a large group of teenagers was causing a disturbance. One of them was arrested after being found with a metal pole, which was being used to cause damage to seating on the tram.
Former Lord Mayor, Councillor Nial Ring says extra security is needed;
"Sometimes, genuinely, you actually just feel a bit unsafe because of rowdiness on it (the luas)."
But he says when security staff board trams it helps to calm the situation down.
