Plans to create a plaza at College Green in Dublin are facing more delays as the contract to design the public space is terminated.
The Irish Times reports Dublin city council has dispensed with the architects it first brought on board more than six years ago to reimagine the space outside Trinity College.
The local authority says the extension of the traffic-free zone under new plans means it needs to readvertise for a design team to comply with EU procurement rules, as the scope of the project has changed.
It was due to lodge a fresh application for the scheme this year but this won't now happen.
The original proposal was rejected in 2018 by An Bord Pleanála over concerns it would have significant negative impacts on bus movements and traffic in the area.
