Climate activists will protest outside a data centre event at the RDS later, calling for a ban on the facilities.
It's claimed 12% of the country's electricity is used to run data centres.
The Climate Justice Coalition says that could increase to up 70 per cent by 2030 if action isn't taken.
Spokesperson, Eddie Conlon, says data centres aren't in keeping with our climate action goals:
"There should be a halt to data centres. It's acknowledged in the climate action plan, they pose a threat to the achievement of the targets set by the Government. If the Government accept that then they should agree that these things should be banned for the moment."
