Motorists are reminded they can receive up to 4 penalty points on their license if caught speeding.
The Gardai's "Operation Slow Down" is now in it's third day and has so far detected over a thousand people exceeding the speed limit in various parts of the country.
This road safety campaign is supported by the RSA and is just one of many attempt to save lives on Irish roads.
The new "no texting and driving" legislation has been in effect since the May Bank Holiday, four weeks ago.
