Dublin City Council is on high alert ahead of the heavy snow expected later this week.
Council officials say they are prepared and ready to respond to a severe weather event.
A cold weather advisory is currently in place, with Met Eireann warning of temperatures as low as minus 5 degrees.
Dermot Collins from the roads section at DCC says they have learned from previous events such as Storm Emma: "If the situation does worsen we have our winter emergency plans in place, our salt stocks are full, our gritting and snow plough fleet are ready and on high alert.
"We will have a 24 hour presence on our roads, and our primary focus will be on treating the main roads, maintaining access and keeping people safe on our roads."
