The Peter McVerry Trust is welcoming a u-turn on proposed cuts to homeless services by Dublin City Council.
Last night the 2014 budget was voted through but was revised to give support groups 700 thousand euro more in funding.
It also reversed a decision to hike rents for council tenants by 7 per cent.
Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick had been rallying colleagues to reject the budget, because 40 million euro generated by the property tax wasn't being ring-fenced for the city.
