The website used by voters in Dublin to check the register has been taken offline.
Dublin City Council, which looks after voter.ie, says essential upgrades were booked in before the election date was announced.
Those trying to register to vote or check the register are being told the system should be back up and running this afternoon.
Those attempting to check the register using voter.ie yesterday afternoon were unable to find their details.
They were being shown an error message instead.
Today, the homepage has been taken over by a message which reads:
"Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment".
The message explains the site will "be back online shortly".
Thousands of people who registered to vote within the last year will need to take extra steps to make sure they can vote in the 2020 general election.
The current draft register won't be activated until February 15th, which is after polling day.
Those on the draft register who wish to vote on February 8th will need to apply to be on the supplementary register.
Application forms, which can be found here, need to be lodged with the Franchise Section of your local council before Wednesday January 22nd.
