Car Crashed Into Crumlin Takeaway And Set Alight

A car was found crashed into a takeaway and on fire in Crumlin in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Gardaí are treating the incident in Dublin 12 as criminal damage. They say they were alerted to a car on fire at a premises on the Crumlin Road at approximately 1.40am.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a blue Volkswagen Passat, 04 D registered, which had been driven through the shutters. It's suspected the car was then set alight.

Two men fled in the direction of Rutland Avenue.

Dublin Fire Brigade put out the blaze and no injuries were reported.

Gardaí at Sundrive Road are appealing to any witnesses to come forward. They are also asking road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the Crumlin Road at the time, to make the footage available to Gardaí.
