A campaign has started to stop people from groping Dublin's Molly Malone statue.

The monument on Suffolk Street has become discoloured from tourists and locals constantly rubbing the statue's chest for luck.

Busker, Tilly Cripwell, wants the public to "leave Molly mAlone".

"They come and take their photos and they pose with Molly Malone and more often than not they are, in my opinion, showing inappropriate behaviour towards her."

She says they touch her breasts, put their hands all over her and kiss her.

The statue was vandalised a number of times last year.

In one incident "7 years bad luck" was painted on the bronze monuments chest, while another incident saw "Please Don't, TY" scrawled across the same area.
