Housing charity Threshold is welcoming a new campaign to stop families from becoming homeless.
The initiative involves the 4 Dublin local authorities, Threshold and the Department of Social Protection.
A helpline is being set up for at risk families to call on 1800 454 454.
Chairperson of Threshold Aideen Hayden explains..
It comes as a demonstration is due to take place outside the Dáil later today in protest against the Housing Bill 2014.
The new legislation which has come in for much criticism from opposition TDs is to be debated by the Dáil this evening.
Under the Bill people in receipt of rent supplement will be transferred onto a new housing assistance payment (HAP) which will result in those currently waiting on social housing removed from the waiting list.
Socialist Party TD Ruth Coppinger says the new Bill falls short of providing a solution to the housing crisis she's calling on the Government to do more..
