A 5-year plan to improve Dublin city centre includes spending a million euro on Christmas lights.
DublinTown, which represents over 2,500 businesses in the capital’s Business Improvement District, has launched its renewal proposal. BID is renewed every five years by a vote of businesses in the district.
DublinTown's plan to improve commercial life in the city includes spending a million euro on next-generation Christmas lights.
The group also believes public transport in the city should be 24 hours to facilitate anticipated growth in the evening and nighttime economy and that car parks should be used at night as safe and secure taxi ranks.
Commenting on the launch of the plan, DublinTown Chief Executive, Richard Guiney, said;
"The pandemic period has been incredibly disruptive and difficult for our members. During this time DublinTown has rapidly adapted and responded to the shifting landscape to meet the needs of its members. As we look forward to the next five years, our focus is on repairing the damage done to our city centre by the pandemic and giving businesses a strong voice on the future direction of the city."
