International music stars should pay tax on money earned from their performances here.

The call's been made amid concerns they're leaving the country without settling fees.

As it stands international artists don't have to pay tax here on on their concerts.

Instead they can settle their tax bill in their home country or the country where their assets are controlled.

Members of the Oireachtas Arts Committee want to change the system, with Sinn Féin's Peadar Toibín claiming some musicians are making 30 million euro on concerts held here.

The committee has recommended taking a percentage of money earned before the artists leave Ireland, to make sure the linked tax take stays here.

Deputy Toibín thinks that if that's not a goer, money should be held until the end of the year and only handed over to performers once they show the right paperwork.

The Department of Finance has previously dismissed the idea saying it would lead to less artists coming here, which would hurt our hospitality industry.
