There are calls for M50 charges to be scrapped after the motorway made €140 million from tolls last year.
Figures from Transport Minister Eamon Ryan show it's an increase of €16 million on 2020.
The country's busiest road has made over €1.2 billion in charges over the past decade.
Aontu leader Peadar Toibín says the government should consider making journeys free;
"It was bought for half a billion nearly two decades ago at this stage and the government are looking to keep the toll going for at least another ten years. I think at this stage in a cost of living crisis that commuters traveling long distances into the city need to be given a break."
