There are calls for two well-known car parks in Dublin to be repurposed.
The Ilac and Dawson Street car parks are both owned by Dublin City Council but leased out.
360 spaces are available at the Dawson Street car park on the southside and 1,000 at the Ilac car park on the northside.
Dublin City Council owns them both but leases them out to operator Park Rite with rent costing around €1.8 million each a year.
This evening councillors are due to vote on renewing the lease for parking but a Green Party Councillor doesn't want this to happen.
Donna Cooney thinks there could be other uses for these car parks instead like housing, bike parking or cultural uses.
She says these car parks need to be considered in the context of traffic plans for the capital and climate change.
