Buskers have been banned from playing on the streets of Dublin this Christmas due to Covid-19.
An emergency motion was passed last night which looks to create solutions that allow performers to make an income.
The city council says it cannot lift the ban on their permits until further notice due to public health reasons.
Talks have begun with DCC on what creative ways artists could earn an income from their talents.
Playing music through speakers on the streets or streaming videos online are being suggested as ways to help the artists.
Licenses for street performers has been banned for December due to Covid restrictions, on Grafton Street piped music is being played, I’d like to propose DCC find away to enable street performers to make an income and reach an audience this Christmas.
