Cineworld on Parnell Street is Ireland's largest cinema.

Dublin's biggest cinema could be in jeopardy, despite saying it's 'business as usual'.

Cineworld, which operates a 17-screen theatre on Parnell Street, is considering bankruptcy.

The American film giant is struggling with 4-point-7 billion euros of debt.

Cineworld employs around 28,000 people globally in cinemas across 10 countries.

In a statement, the company says they are continuing to welcome customers in the UK and Ireland.

They say it's 'business as usual' despite concerns the parent company is filing for bankruptcy.

The company also owns the Picturehouse cinema chain in the UK.

A number of reasons have been cited for the financial demise of the company.

Of these - include a lack of blockbuster films or a hope that certain blockbuster's would do better at the box office.

Another is the sporadic closures of cinemas across the country and in parts of Europe due to Covid restrictions.
