Joan Burton has launched her campaign to become the leader of the Labour Party, following Gilmore's resignation this week.
The social protection minister says she's best placed to lead the party's recovery after its poor showing in the elections.
Other TDs within the party reckon the 65-year-old could run unopposed.
Burton says she is 'up for it' if she is to succeed Gilmore.
