Joan Burton is expected to announce her intention to run for the job of Labour leader today.
It follows reports yesterday that the Minister for Social Protection had begun to drum up support in the party.
Nominations for Eamon Gilmore's replacement close at midday next Tuesday, and voting will close on the fourth of July.
Some other potential candidates have also remained tight lipped about their plans so far, but Junior Minister Alan Kelly yesterday confirmed he's interested in either being leader or deputy leader.
