Trinity College has abandoned plans to move the Book of Kells to what outraged staff call "a leaky basement."
It was proposed the historical artefact be moved to another location in the university as part of a tourism masterplan.
The u-turn came after faculty members wrote a letter to the provost claiming that part of the college is "liable to flooding".
Although welcoming the news, staff have now voiced concerns over plans to build a cafe under the Trinity's famous Long Room.
