A major conservation and redevelopment plan for one of Dublin's busiest tourist attractions has been lodged with the city council.
A new underground ticketing area and crowd management technology is planned for the Book of Kells exhibition at Trinity College.
The project also involves significant work to the Old Library that includes temperature controls and fire protection.
More than a million people visited the attraction last year.
Ian Lumley from An Taisce says: "The Book of Kells is a major visitor attraction for Dublin so what's being proposed is enhanced visitor facilities so there's a flow of people coming through the library.
"The display will be better managed and a more attractive experience for everybody."
