The army bomb squad was called in to north Dublin yesterday.
Gardaí say they got reports of a suspicious device in the Whitehall area yesterday evening.
The Army Ordnance Disposal Truck along with a number of heavily armed soldiers and around five garda vehicles were spotted in Santry village.

A cordon was put in place at Schoolhouse lane and the Army Bomb Squad was brought in.
The device was later found not to be viable after an examination by experts.
The cordon was later lifted and Gardaí say enquiries are ongoing.
