A post mortem is due to be carried out today on the body of a woman found at a house in Co Mayo yesterday.
Gardaí arrested a man in his early 20's in connection with the incident last night.
At around midday yesterday the remains of a woman, believed to be in her late twenties and a mother of two, were found in a rural home in the Mayo Abbey area of Balla.
Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis is due to carry out a post mortem at Mayo General hospital today.
That exam should explain the exact cause of death and in the meantime a man in his early 20s has been arrested.
Gardaí confirmed late last night that he had been picked in the nearby Castlebar area.
The scene remains sealed off today to allow a full technical examination take place
