Gardai have launched a murder investigation following the death of a Polish man in Athlone.
The body of the 23 year old was recovered from the River Shannon last night.
The man was known to Gardai and suspected of being involved in drugs.
Gardaí are investigating reports that the man was attacked and bundled into a car at Lloyd's Lane in Athlone shortly after 8 o'clock last night.
Three men arrested last night in connection with his killing, remain in Garda custody this afternoon.
Superintendent Noreen McBrien of Athlone Garda station is appealing to the public for information.
