Police in Belfast say the bomb that went off yesterday evening could have killed someone.
The bomb exploded outside a busy restaurant in the city centre after a misleading telephone warning.
It happened just before 7pm in the Cathedral Quarter, as the area was being evacuated by hundreds of people.
No-one was injured.
There's been widespread condemnation of the incident.
The Northern Ireland Secretary of State has condemned the explosion describing it as "absolutely deplorable".
Theresa Villier's described the incident "as a reckless attack aimed at a busy entertainment area of the city on one of busiest nights of the year for people".
The PSNI Chief superintendent Alan Crum says "those who carried out the attack have nothing to offer except disruption and destruction".
