Three former bankers have been charged in connection with a €7.2bn fraud.
The men appeared before Dublin District Court and the DPP has instructed they be sent forward for trial.
Dennis Casey, former Chief Executive of Irish Life and Permanent was joined in the dock by his former Director of Finance Peter Fitzpatrick and John Bowe who used to be the Head of Capital at the former Anglo Irish Bank.
The three men are accused of taking part in a scheme involving billions of euro between March 2008 and September of the same year that would have given existing and perspective investors at Anglo the impression that the bank was better off than it actually was.
Mr. Bowe was first called this afternoon and his solicitor told Judge Patricia McNamara that "you could hardly find a better candidate for bail".
He told the court there was no suggestion he was personally enriched by the scheme and this is a case of alleged misbehaviour in the context of the banking system.
All three men were granted bail after family members agreed to freeze €10k in their accounts to secure future court appointments.
They're due to appear in court again in March.
